What is their job? What does it involve?

Mainly a production designer, aims to be a director

How did they start working in film/ creative media?

Started going through BFI film courses, gave him qualifications to work on short films.

What have they done in their career?

became a runner on feature films, then production designer on shorts and then production designer on features. Has produced and directed also. Has been offered a job on the force awakens, but turned it down in favour of more casual work in Newcastle.

What have you found out about what it is like to work in film /creative media?

Film is not a casual, 9 to 5 job. You have to work hard and entirely on each project, and work hard to find those jobs inbetween.

What have you learnt to progress your knowledge and skills and/or for creating your short film?

That hardwork, stress management and networking goes a long way. Knowing when to back down and when to double down is important, knowing how much you can take has to be kept in mind.

What progression routes have you found out about?

BFI courses are equal to Uni courses in terms of entry qualifications for filmmaking

What opportunities for your own progression have you found out about?

I realise I don’t need to go to film University if I want to work on films- however I will because i’m interested in what Uni can teach me.
